The GDC standard covers Driving Instructors, Driver Trainers and Master Trainers who may work for commercial driver training organisations or in-house training departments, or who may be self-employed.
The standard applies to instructors and trainers that provide in-vehicle training and classroom training on safe driving and sets out the knowledge, skills and understanding required to deliver successful learning.
This training will be carried out by an organisation that has been approved by GDC who will train the Instructor/Trainer against this standard, via a 5-day Training Program.
Certification will be carried out by an organisation that has been approved by GDC who will assess the Instructor/Trainer against this standard, via a 1-day Exam, using an approved evaluation assessment sheet. The Certificate will be awarded by GDC on completion of a successful assessment.
The GDC standard for the management of fleet safety covers all vehicle fleets (large and small) and all categories of vehicles including cars, vans, trucks, buses, motorcycles and specialist vehicles.
